Pay: $50.00–$55.00 per hour

Position Overview

Reliance One is hiring an Engineer to support a leading automotive manufacturing company.

This position will focus on evaluating and managing new-model paint color trials, introducing new material technologies, and supporting current production initiatives. The Engineer will work with cross-functional teams to reduce material costs, improve material performance, and ensure new colors and materials meet production and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead new paint color and material introductions for body and resin paint operations across North American manufacturing facilities.
• Manage new materials from initial laboratory workability studies through online testing and final production approval.
• Develop trial plans, complete quality evaluations, and provide recommendations regarding material and process direction.
• Establish process controls and operating parameters for new materials and technologies.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to gain alignment on technical requirements and implementation plans.
• Lead materials-related problem-solving efforts across multiple departments.
• Apply structured problem-solving methods to identify root causes and implement effective countermeasures.
• Evaluate the cost-per-unit and environmental impact of new materials.
• Quantify costs, benefits, and potential risks to support stakeholder decision-making.
• Support departmental strategic objectives related to paint processes, materials, quality, cost, and environmental performance.
• Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations to multiple levels of management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• At least one year of experience evaluating the color and appearance of painted surfaces.
• Experience leading multiple projects involving coordination with other departments, vendors, or external groups.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Experience creating and presenting reports to multiple levels of management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including summarizing data and creating charts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and experience developing professional presentations.
• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.
